Report summaryRatawi is a giant oil field in the southern province of Basra, about 15 kilometres west of the Rumaila field. It was discovered in 1950 by the Basra Petroleum Company. Iraq's South Oil Company has initiated the first stage of development with the aim of installing 60,000 b/d production capacity. Production started at the end of 2007 at 10,000 b/d in 2009. There has been no reported development activity for some time, and we estimate the field will plateau at around 10,000 b/d in the long-term.
