The Rosetta development comprises three fields in the offshore Nile Delta. BG, discovered the largest field, Rosetta, in 1997 and agreed a gas sales agreement (GSA) later that year. The company subsequently made the Rashid North and South Sequoia discoveries. The fields are operated by the Rashid Petroleum Company (Rashpetco), a joint venture company held on a 50/50 basis between EGPC and the Rosetta participants, Shell and Edison. The Rosetta field started production in 2001 and the fields have seen four phases of development, but are now mature.
