Report summaryThe Vitol-operated Saigak oil field is located 145 kilometres south of Aktobe, in northwest Kazakhstan. Commercial production began in 2003 and ramped up to 12,000 b/d in the following year, before declining very rapidly. Saigak was discovered by Elf in 1996 and, after changing hands several times, development was initiated by Maersk in 2001.
