The offshore Serdar/Kapaz oil and gas field is located in the Caspian Sea in an area that is disputed by Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. The field is geologically similar to the giant Azeri Chirag Guneshli (ACG) field in Azerbaijan but is a separate structure. Serdar/Kapaz was discovered in the Soviet era but has never been developed.
