South Sudan oil supply summary

South Sudan oil supply summary

Report summary

Political tensions and fighting between rival South Sudanese army factions have severely curtailed output in recent years. All production from the Greater Nile Oil Project and Block 5A fields in the Unity State has been shut-in since December 2013. We assume that oil supply from the GNOP and Block 5A fields will gradually return from mid-2015, although given the scale of current fighting there is significant risk of any restart being pushed further back.
