Report summary

Total is a major multinational E&P company headquartered in France, with activities in over 40 countries. Within the Lower 48, Total is active in both the Northeast and Gulf Coast regions. The company entered through a JV with Chesapeake Energy, making them the first NOC in the Barnett Shale in January 2010. In 2016 Total bought out Chesapeake and subsequently became the sole operator of its Barnett acreage. After a lull in activity post-purchase, Total has recently resumed drilling natural gas wells in the Barnett shale.
