Report summary
Toucan lies approximately 10 kilometres north of Shell's giant Rabi field, and was discovered in late 2001 on the Ozigo exploration licence. The Toucan discovery well was put on a long-term production test in late 2002 and Shell Gabon received development approval in January 2003.Toucan is developed as a satellite to the Rabi field, and some of the field facilities are remotely operated from the Rabi control centre. The field was initially developed with an early production system (EPS). Heating station and gas injection capacities are in the process of being upgraded in order to reduce crude viscosity and improve the ultimate recovery factor.
