Val d'Agri is operated by Eni and is the company's largest asset in Italy. It is the largest oil and gas development in Italy. The field is situated 20 kilometres southeast of Potenza in the Basilicata region of southern Italy. The areal extent of the field is approximately 300 square kilometres, two-thirds of which lie in the southern Apennines, more than 1,000 metres above sea level.
