The Ventura Basin covers most of the southern half of Ventura County and extends west along the southern coast of Santa Barbara County and to the east into Los Angeles County. The basin contains both onshore fields and offshore fields in federal and state waters. The onshore portion of the basin is extremely mature, with ongoing operations consisting mainly of steam and waterfloods. ExxonMobil is the largest producer and reserve holder in the basin.
