The BP operated Western Route Export Pipeline (WREP) runs from the Sangachal Terminal (near Baku) in Azerbaijan to the Georgian Black Sea port of Supsa from where the Azerbaijani oil is tankered through the Bosporus Straits to the Mediterranean. Despite the commissioning of the BTC pipeline in 2006 WREP continues to be an important export route for Azerbaijan.
