Agenda themes:

What will the sustained impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine be on petrochemical feedstocks?

Russia’s war in Ukraine has had a huge impact on the European energy market. We’ll explore how crude oil and refined product flows are changing. Given Europe’s reliance on Russian natural gas, how long will European prices stay high? Which petrochemical feedstocks will be advantaged in the medium term?

How do industry margins look in a world of over-capacity and rising raw material costs?

The global petrochemical industry is on average moving through a period of over-investment through the first half of the 2020s. Global operating rates will remain depressed even under a relatively positive economic growth and consumption outlook. Rising inflation and new Chinese lockdowns present additional downside risks. On top of this, rising energy and feedstock costs have jolted most major sectors of the wider petrochemical industry, significantly increasing production costs. How much will margins be squeezed by this double whammy effect and which regions will be the main winners and losers?

Are brands and converters still on track to meet their sustainability targets?

After two extraordinary years, is the packaging value chain set up to hit the sustainability targets looming large in the road ahead. We look at how important legislation and brand commitments will be in driving change and achieving these targets by 2025 and beyond. Given the current economic backdrop, are consumers able to pick up the cost of sustainable packaging? And where will the supply come from? We explore the risks and opportunities to the packaging and textile industries are they compete to secure a reliable supply of post-consumer material.
