The Orion field is a northwest satellite of the Prudhoe Bay field and began production in 2002. The field is being developed as a satellite of the Prudhoe Bay field and shares the existing facilities. The operator must overcome a number of obstacles when developing the field due to the viscous nature of the crude being produced from the Schrader Bluff Formation.
