ZTS Yuanqu copper smelter
Report summary
Yuanqu copper smelter was started in the early 1970s, one of the most antique copper smelters in Shanxi province, northern China. The smelter is operated by ZhongTiaoShan Nonferrous (ZTS) Group, which constructed the integrated Tongkuangyu Copper Mine in 1966. In response to stricter environmental restrictions and further development requirements, the smelter closed the old plant in 2011, with a new replaced smelter being built in the following two years. The new Yuanqu smelter adopted bottom-blown technology with a capacity expanding to 100 ktpa. The upgraded smelter started operation in early 2014 and reached full capacity later that year. The smelter expanded the capacity to 140 ktpa during several maintenance periods. The accompanying analysis includes only the production and cost of the smelter from 2021 onwards.
