Alan is a principal analyst, zinc markets at Wood Mackenzie and sits within the base metals markets research team for the Metals and Mining group. He has over 15 years of experience across the commodities value chain working in exploration, analysis, business development, and commercial functions throughout his career. Alan spent the early part of his career in the mineral exploration sector working on early-stage; gold, copper and zinc projects as a geologist. He then moved into corporate roles working within Barrick’s exploration commercial group conducting project analysis and then working for Foraco the world’s 3rd largest drilling services provider in a business development and contract management role.
Alan joined Teck Resources commercial team in 2018. During his time at Teck Alan marketed Teck’s zinc and lead refined metal as well as smelter by-products to end-use consumers within the North American market.
In 2025 Alan moved into Teck’s copper and molybdenum concentrates team and took a lead role on marketing Teck’s molybdenum concentrates, forming commercial strategies for what is poised to be one of the largest molybdenum concentrates books globally. During his time with Teck Alan played a key role leading Teck’s refined metals marketing strategies as well as evaluating the commercial aspects of various recycling opportunities at Teck’s Trail smelter. Alan also sat on Teck’s material stewardship committee overseeing the responsible and sustainable sale of Teck’s metal products into the marketplace.
