Our Wells to watch class of 2026 demonstrates that frontier exploration for advantaged resources remains a driving force for the industry.

This report draws on insight from Wood Mackenzie Lens Subsurface to spotlight 23 highly anticipated wells being drilled across the globe – from Alaska to Angola – operated by Majors, NOCs and even newly-formed Independents.

While each well and prospect tells its own unique story, our analysis focuses on three key themes:

  1. Volume and value: showcasing our new Prospect Valuation assessments, featuring highlights from our discounted cash flow model for each prospect.
  2. Play openers: shining a light on wells that, if successful, could unlock frontier plays and basins for new exploration activity.
  3. Atlantic margin focus: among the wells we feature, more than half of the unrisked volumes and two-thirds of the modelled project value are concentrated along the Atlantic margin, stretching from Namibia to Norway.

Read Wells to watch 2026 to discover the subsurface details of selected wells, including those that will target frontier basins and underexplored plays globally.
