The non-residential solar sector experienced a surge in growth in 2016 and is expected to grow 9%, on average, for the next 5 years. This report aims to clarify the current ownership landscape in the non-residential sector and the strategies employed by the major commercial solar owners.
For this study, many of the top non-residential solar asset owners were surveyed for their total capacity brought on-line in recent years and their projected pipeline for 2017. In some instances, total owned solar capacity was estimated utilizing our comprehensive project-level datasets. We targeted national commercial solar asset owners that have capabilities in solar development.
