Alex has over 16 years of experience leading consulting projects across a wide variety of commodities across the mining & metals industry, supporting clients in their decision-making through the delivery of strategic, commercial advisory, financing due diligence and custom research projects.

Alex joined Wood Mackenzie in 2025, having previously spent the majority of his career as a consultant at CRU, where he was primarily responsible for leading projects in the battery materials space, spearheading the company’s research and coverage of these rapidly evolving markets. He has market-leading experience in battery cathode raw material markets (nickel, lithium, cobalt, manganese), as well as broader knowledge of the iron ore, steel, ferroalloys, phosphates, aluminium and copper industries.

During his career he has been the lead market advisor on several billion-dollar transactions, including a US$7bn iron ore mine (at the time the largest ever debt financing for a mining project), two separate battery gigafactory financings together worth $17bn, and a $1bn lithium mine and refinery.

Alex relocated from London to New York in 2015, where he worked to support primarily US-based clients for seven years, before returning in 2022.
