David brings a diverse and in-depth understanding of global energy markets to his role as senior analyst, where he currently leads analysis on European short-term gas supply and demand fundamentals.
David joined Wood Mackenzie with a strong foundation in both market analytics and commercial operations. Prior to his current role, he worked as an LNG analyst, focusing on short-term fundamentals such as Atlantic Basin flows, US Gulf Coast netbacks and the evolving dynamics of global LNG trade.
David began his career in government affairs at bp, where he developed a strategic understanding of energy policy and regulatory frameworks. He later transitioned to the trading floor of a European utility, where he focused on European gas and power markets, gaining hands-on experience in market behaviour, risk management, and trading strategies. He also has experience in crude oil and refined products markets, further broadening his perspective across the energy value chain.
In his current role, David has been instrumental in developing Wood Mackenzie’s European short-term supply and demand models. He has built and enhanced a suite of analytical tools—including production forecasts, power stack analysis, and LNG netback models—that together offer a comprehensive view of short-term market fundamentals. His work supports clients in navigating the volatility and complexity of Europe’s largest gas markets, while also providing valuable insights into trading opportunities.
