Xizhou Zhou is Executive Vice President and Global Head of Power & Renewables at Wood Mackenzie, where he is responsible for the strategic direction, commercial growth, and operational performance of the business. He brings more than two decades of experience across energy, power, and clean energy markets, with deep expertise in research and forecasting, asset valuation, market design, policy analysis, and business strategy.
Under his leadership, Wood Mackenzie’s Power & Renewables team delivers integrated, data-driven solutions that support clients across strategic planning, capital allocation, trading and energy management, and supply chain optimisation. By combining leading power and renewables capabilities with broader data and insights across Wood Mackenzie’s energy and natural resources businesses, his team helps clients navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected energy landscape.
Based in Washington, DC, Xizhou is an established energy policy expert and represents Wood Mackenzie in engagements with US government agencies, Congress, industry associations, and other policymaking bodies.
Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie in 2024, Xizhou was a Vice President at S&P Global Commodity Insights, where he led the integration of the power and renewables businesses following the IHS Markit merger. Before that, he drove the strategic expansion of IHS Markit’s power and renewables research and consulting practice as well as its energy insights business in Asia.
Earlier in his career, Xizhou held roles at Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), Industrial Economics, Inc., and the World Resources Institute. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Environmental Management, both from Yale University.
