Report summary
North American production continues 2019’s trend of strong production with all three grades seeing an increase in production in January. LyondellBasell’s HDPE unit in La Porte, TX has started commissioning and is expected to reach commercial production in Q1. North American domestic demand for January 2020 is up 42kt from were January 2019 was a year ago at 1,181kt. It is a slight decline of 3% from December 2019. Domestic contract prices in January have settled up 3cpp for all grades as spot export prices increase 1cpp, 2cpp, and 2cpp for HDPE, LLDPE, and LDPE, respectively.
