Commodity Market Report
Polyethylene North America monthly market overview March 2019
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
HDPE spot-export FOB Houston prices bounced back from the low point in February, to reach $882/ton in March. Low ethylene costs support the low price environment. High inventories through the value chain and poor weather conditions have subdued domestic demand, as polyethylene markets were weak in quarter one, while healthy domestic production kept US markets long. By the end of March, the demand-driven recovery is expected to take hold, in the build-up to the peak manufacturing season later in quarter two. US export markets performed poorly with little demand from Asia during the seasonal vacation.
