North American total polyethylene production YTD February 2020 vs 2019 levels are up 15.1% with producers maintaining utilization rates above 90%. Domestic consumption in North America for February is currently estimated at 1,040kt. This is less than 1% lower YTD February 2020 vs 2019. Polyethylene end uses look to strengthen as impacts from the coronavirus on the food packaging market begin to materialize. Overall, packaging sector and consumer sectors are showing strength in demand as people stocked up their houses with everyday items. Domestic polyethylene contract prices rollover for all grades in February with an expected rollover again in March.
