Polyethylene North America monthly market overview October 2019
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
YTD October polyethylene demand continues to fall short when compared to the same period in 2018. Even with the North American market projected to increase month to month for the remainder of 2019, it is unlikely that Q4 will be strong enough to bring year-end demand levels to 2018 levels. After a slow month of production in September due to tropical storm Imelda’s impact on southeast Texas, October showed significant signs of recovery with ExxonMobil Beaumont’s polyethylene production back online. Spot export prices for HDPE and LLDPE in October have fallen to a record low. LDPE export prices and domestic prices of all grades remain at the lowest seen in close to ten years. Low export prices continue to support the low net-back flow of resin to the far east, mainly South East and South Asia.
