North American polypropylene production continues to be constrained by outages, with the United States operating rates falling to 83 percent in February. The production will strengthen as new capacity from Braskem’s La Porte facility is expected to come on-line in Q2 2020. North American consumption recovery has stalled in February with levels around 600kt. As polymer grade propylene prices fall again for the sixth straight month, US Gulf Coast polypropylene contract prices are expected to follow PGP and fall 7cpp this month. Meanwhile, March export prices declined $10/t in March.
