Vinyls - Vinyls global monthly market overview May 2019
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
After a contentious settlement process, April US domestic PVC prices have finally reached agreement. Contracts were settled lower by 2 cents / pound. Meanwhile, global export prices have found support. Furthermore, current events continue to move the vinyls markets. Beyond escalation in the US - China trade war, Braskem has shut-in operations at its Alagoas chlor alkali and EDC facility. Following concerns regarding the geologic integrity of its salt mine upstream operations have ceased, squeezing supply of both EDC and caustic soda. Braskem has noted their intention to continue to produce PVC by sourcing EDC (in addition to caustic soda) from global producers, adding much needed demand for these exporters. Read our pdf report and find the associated excel deliverable to see our view of how these dynamics are fundamentally shifting the global vinyls markets.
