Cardinal River coal mine

Report summary

Cardinal River is a metallurgical coal producing mine in southeastern British Columbia, which is operated by Teck Coal. The mine produces low sulphur, medium-to-high volatile bituminous coking coal for international steelmaking customers.  Historically, Cardinal River was Teck's highest cost operation, but due to tough metallurgical coal market conditions in recent years, much effort was put into improving the mine's operations.
