Foresight Energy - Illinois Basin coal mines

Report summary

Foresight Energy has grown quickly to become one of the Illinois Basin's major producers. The company's operating assets include three longwalls mines. Foresight Energy has several possible projects. All operations are based in Illinois and all produce higher sulphur coal suited for EGUs with scrubbers or the export market. Foresight exited bankruptcy in 2020 as a private, independent company. A fire at Sugar Camp mine and elevated carbon monoxide levels at Deer Run mine negatively affected output in 2021.
