Governor Perry confirmed as secretary of energy
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Distancing himself from previous controversial positions, former Texas governor Rick Perry eased into President Trump's cabinet. He promises to manage department activity with an eye to national security and an approach favourable to all fuels. Under his leadership, he will focus the DOE on energy production that minimizes economic and environmental impacts. DOE budget increases are unlikely; increased fossil fuel research – into CCS, for example – would require budget reprioritization, with support and opposition expected from the usual quarters.
