Grassy Mountain coal mine
Report summary
Grassy Mountain is a metallurgical coal project in the Crowsnest Pass area of Alberta, which is sponsored by Riversdale Resources originally expected to produce first coal in early 2024. A 2021 permit denial by Canadian Federal and Provincial regulators will set back a project development timeline. The project was recently purchased by Hancock Prospecting for C$840M. The mine will primarily produce high quality coking coal for export. It is possible that the mine may also ship a small portion of PCI coal, though we have not included any PCI coal sales in our projections at this time.
