Grootegeluk coal mine

Report summary

Grootegeluk is the largest coal mine in South Africa and the only mine currently located in the Waterberg Coalfield. The mine produces both thermal and metallurgical coal. Grootegeluk has one of the world's largest coal preparation plants, expanded from six to ten modules to provide the additional capacity to supply coal to the Medupi power station and produce more coal for the export market.
