Report summary

Hunter Valley Operations is a large scale thermal and semi-soft coking coal producing mine in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, located approximately 24 kilometres north west of Singleton. The Hunter River divides the operation into two distinct areas: HVO North and HVO South.In January 2017, Rio Tinto reached a binding agreement to sell Coal & Allied Industries to Yancoal Australia for up to US$2.45 billion, which includes a 67.60% stake in Hunter Valley Operations. The transaction is subject to approvals from Australian government, Chinese regulatory agencies and New South Wales government.
