Refinery Type classifies each asset into one of seven different complexity ranges:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Bronze
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Black: Refineries for which Wood Mackenzie complexity not calculated, typically less than 30 kb/d
  • Red: Refineries closed or mothballed after 01/01/2010

This map is founded on Wood Mackenzie's highly regarded Net Cash Margin analysis for every refinery in the world over 50 kbd.

Middelburg Wolvekrans is the largest thermal coal mine in the Witbank Coalfield, located 20 kilometres southeast of Witbank. The mine merged Middelburg Mine Services (MMS) and Douglas colliery's assets, which included the Wolvekrans reserve. Middelburg Wolvekrans was previously known as Douglas Middelburg.
