Middlemount coal mine
Report summary
Middlemount is a metallurgical coal mine in Queensland's Bowen Basin that commenced operations in 2012. The mine is located six kilometres south west of the town of Middlemount and approximately 260 kilometres south west of Mackay. The mine is held within an incorporated joint venture between Peabody and Yancoal, following Peabody's merger with Macarthur Coal in 2011 and Yancoal's merger with Gloucester Coal in 2012. The mine covers leases ML70379, MDL282 and MLA70417.
