Report summary
ERP Compliant Fuel's Quinsam asset was an underground coal mine located on British Columbia's Vancouver Island in the Comox coalfield in Canada. In July 2019, the mine entered bankruptcy proceedings with the intent to permanently close the mine. The mine produced a relatively high-energy thermal coal product that sold to the cement industry in the Vancouver and Seattle area and to power plants, primarily in the Pacific Basin. Annual production was traditionally held fairly steady at around 0.5 million tonnes of clean coal. ERP purchased the mine in 2017 from Vitol and reopened it in 2017 after low prices in 2016 shuttered the mine. The mine closed in May 2019.
