Raspadskaya coal mines

Report summary

Raspadskaya is one of Russia's largest coking coal producers operating three underground and one surface mine.  A gas explosion at the Raspadskaya mine in 2010 resulted in major loss of life and an extended halt to production. The rebuilding of the Raspadskaya mine is on-going, with a strong emphasis on safety being applied by the company and government regulators.
