US coal mine productivity grows 9% on improved performance at PRB and lignite mines
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Productivity at US coal mines grew by 0.6 short tons per employee-hour (stpeh), or 8.8%, in Q3 2013, compared to the prior quarter. This strong improvement in productivity was driven by the large mines in the Powder River Basin, Gulf Coast and North Dakota Lignite regions. Demand for these coals improved during the summer and the resulting expansion in production allowed the mines to operate more efficiently.
