Report summary
Coal, natural gas, and renewable generation will remain in direct competition for the foreseeable future. However, a combination of circumstances is limiting coal and natural gas competition. Further, modelling suggests that modest changes in renewable generation levels affect natural gas generation more so than coal generation. In this insight, we forecast how various scenarios surrounding both natural gas price and renewable generation growth will affect North American coal markets.
