APAC Energy Buzz: Is Asia’s offshore wind sector ready for take-off?
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Asia has yet to chart a path towards a low carbon future. Hydrocarbons continue to dominate the energy mix and coal-fired power generation capacity is still growing in key markets such as China and India. The deep decarbonization of Asia’s power system will require huge investment in renewables. Offshore wind offers enormous potential for the region and investment is underway. Yet today only a tiny fraction of Asia’s total offshore wind potential is operational. Costs must continue to fall, and more government support is required to drive the regions offshore wind ambitions.
