After a decade of exploring carbon pricing mechanisms at the regional level, China launched its national emission trading system (ETS) last July. Albeit it only covers the power sector, China’s national market became the largest compliance carbon pricing mechanism. With the ETS being in operation for more than a year now, in this insight we provide both review and projection of China's national ETS.
