Investment trends and forecasts for Africa's power infrastructure: State of the market and future outlook
Report summary
Wood Mackenzie presented at African Utility Week in Cape Town, South Africa on 15 May 2019 in the Power Strategy Development Track. Africa will host 60 GW of grid-tied solar and wind capacity by 2024, driven by improvements in grid infrastructure and regional power trading, which can boost project bankability, but also held back by traditional infra risks. As power markets get more complicated, new routes to clean energy markets beyond large-scale infrastructure, including off-grid solutions, will continue to open up.
