Nigeria energy markets long-term outlook 2019: an energy giant at a crossroads
Report summary
Nigeria within the top 20 for global gas resources globally, but has large challenges commercializing its hydrocarbon resource base . Due to a lack of gas and power infrastructure Nigeria’s energy mix remains dominated by other solid fuels (OSF). Numerous gas-fired projects are planned but remain speculative, until there is evidence of cost reflective tariffs along the value chain. The government needs to implement power sector reforms to improve liquidity and private sector investment in gas, hydro and renewables.
