On 14 July 2021, the EU released a series of proposals aimed at aligning previously released frameworks with the ambitions of the European Green Deal. The set of proposals issued will put the EU on track to achieving climate-neutrality by 2050 and reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 values. These sets of proposals were necessary to address some of the gaps related to the role of hydrogen in decarbonizing road transport, industry, aviation, maritime, heating and cooling, and other hard to abate sectors.
