Argentina is in the early stages of a major gas revolution, thanks to Vaca Muerta shale gas. In this Southern Cone Gas and Power Service's report, we have modelled major assets - such as El Orejano, Fortin de Piedra, Aguada Pichana Este and Oeste, etc. - and balanced the gas production with our demand forecasts. We also include a high case for Vaca Muerta using the top-performance well curve and increasing the acreage. Lack of demand risks the effective domestic production capacity and the participation of LNG. But more insightful is the difference in terms of future gas market prices and its seasonality for Argentina, which can represent challenging environment for upstream players or a bright future for gas consumers.

Table of contents

    • A growing but centralized gas demand
    • Argentina's Vaca Muerta challenges
