Coronavirus: Impact on European gas markets (2 April update)
Report summary
As coronavirus case numbers continue to grow across Europe more countries are implementing and extending containment measures to limit the spread. Our coverage now includes three additional country reports on: UK, Netherlands and Belgium. The reports covering Pan-Europe, Italy, Spain and France have all been refreshed and expanded to bring you our latest analysis. Extending the loss of gas demand since lockdowns from pre-coronavirus projections over a three-month period, we estimate up to 11.7 bcm of lost gas demand in 2020 from Italy, Spain, France, UK, Netherlands and Belgium. Together, these six markets account for over half of Europe’s total gas demand.
