Despite opposition, Japan nuclear gets a green light
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Kyushu Electric has been the most successful Japanese utility so far in achieving nuclear restarts. But while nuclear meets Japan's policy objectives, it remains highly unpopular. Returning nuclear also leaves Kyushu Electric with excess generation capacity. This coincides with the ramp up of new LNG supply contracts from Australia, leaving Kyushu Electric with too much LNG.
