Europe gas briefing long-term outlook H2 2019
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
A briefing of the latest H2 2019 Europe gas market outlook, delivered as a PowerPoint presentation, accessible through the report downloads section. Europe absorbed 80% of global LNG supply growth in 2019 and will need to repeat that feat, and more, through to 2021. Prices will remain low to deliver sustained coal-to-gas switching, piped suppliers will continue to respond and US LNG offtaker's margins will come under increasing pressure. The European Green Deal has brought long-term gas demand risks into sharp focus. Nonetheless, European gas demand will prove resilient through the 2020s as coal continues to be phased out and decarbonisation of non-power sectors takes time. But even under a gas demand outlook aligned with the targets of the Green Deal, Europe's import requirements will be sustained - particularly for LNG.
