TAP became operational along its full route, completing Europe’s Southern Gas Corridor. Construction on Nord Stream 2 stopped in December 2019 when US sanctions targeted the project's pipelaying vessels, and we now expect it to be commissioned in January 2022. After years of low regas capacity utilisation, LNG imports into Europe were high in 2020. Despite the coronavirus impact on demand Europe imported 84 Mt in 2020, equivalent to 47% utilisation, only 1% lower than 2019. Seasonal price spreads at European gas hubs were higher in 2020 than previous years. This resulted in record storage inventories by October of 111 bcm, including 10 bcm in Ukraine targeting the European market. Find out about these and other major developments in our latest European gas infrastructure report .
