Commodity Market Report
Germany gas and LNG markets long-term outlook 2020
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Germany is Europe's largest gas market. In the next decade, gas is likely to play a role of bridging fuel in the power sector, complementing renewables growth as nuclear and coal capacity are phased out. Growth opportunities will be limited in the other demand sectors. Germany plays a central role in Europe's gas dynamics. There is a lot happening around gas infrastructure in Germany, including the NCG/Gaspool merger into THE, L-gas to H-gas upgrades, German LNG regas projects and the expected commissioning of Nord Stream 2. Biogas and hydrogen are also expected to play an increasing role in the German market, and TSO association FNB is now officially including green gases into its long-term network development plan
