Report summary
Global gas demand peaks around 2040 at 4,545 bcm, lower than our previous long-term outlook. Regional demand growth trajectory varies significantly as Asia’s gas demand increases throughout our forecast, Europe’s gas demand declines post 2022 in perpetuity, and all the other regions experience peak gas demand before 2045. Asia also represents almost 90% of all the gas demand growth for 2021-2050. Despite reaching peak demand by 2040, the size of the global gas market is still expected to expand by 15% between 2021 and 2050.
