Commodity Market Report
Global short-term LNG demand tracker (Q4 2020)
Report summary
As 2020 draws to a close, diverging fundamentals split the two LNG basins, with robust growth in APAC, and a much less certain outlook for rest of the world. COVID-19 may have originated in the Eastern hemisphere, but while the global pandemic continues to spread and worsen, many Asian countries look to have put the worst of the LNG demand impact behind them. Europe, Middle East, and the Americas continue to grapple with a longer lasting second waves with no near-term solution until vaccine production/distribution ramps up in 2021. However there are also several non-coronavirus dynamics at play: - Growth through cost-competitive LNG - Nuclear woes in Northeast Asia - Europe gas balancing act
